A set of two productions for the PlayStation VR headset. The bundle includes The Assembly, an action adventure game, and an interactive experience entitled Perfect.
The Assembly & Perfect Double Pack is a set of two games for PS4 and the PlayStation VR headset. The bundle includes Perfect, which came out at the end of the same year. Both productions were previously available only in digital distribution. Thanks to the said compilation, they started to be sold in retail. The games were developed by nDreams and published by Perp, a division of Perpetual Europe.
The Assembly is an action adventure game created from bottom up with VR headsets in mind. The title was developed by nDreams, a British studio founded by Patrick O’Luanaigh, a former Eidos employee. The story was written by Rob Morgan (The Swapper).
The action takes place in a secret research laboratory, located somewhere in the desert areas of Nevada. Far away from the civilization and official government projects, incredible experiments take place. The eponymous Assembly is an organization of experienced, but amoral scientists who think that morality is a human creation that only limits the progress of science. For this reason, these people hide many dark secrets and are willing to sacrifice a lot for the good and success of their research. When a deadly virus goes out of hand, the further fate of The Assembly is uncertain. The story presents the events from the perspective of two independent characters: Cal Pearson and Madeleine Stone, both of whom have their own principles and motivations. Not only the future of the further research depends on the two – the decisions and choices made in the game influence their lives as well as the rest of the humanity.
The gameplay mechanics are based on the rules of the action adventure genre. We observe the action from the first-person perspective, which shouldn’t come as a surprise given the game’s VR headset . Compared to most productions using the augmented reality, The Assembly for PS4 features high-quality graphics powered by Unreal Engine 4.
Perfect is an interactive first-person experience created by nDreams, a British studio developing virtual reality titles.
The production offers no story and takes the players to three different environments – from a sunny tropical beach, through mountain peaks, to a snowy valley with a picturesque aurora borealis floating above. The action is presented from the first-person perspective – the players can freely look around by moving their head, while using the motion controllers allows them to interact with some objects. The title features a number of settings that let us change the time of the day as well as the vantage point. The unusual gameplay is accompanied by ambient music, although we might as well use our own playlist thanks to the integration with Spotify or, alternatively, we can decide to listen only to the sounds of the environment.
Perfect for PS4 is characterized by high-quality three-dimensional graphics. The available locations were created with attention to detail. The incredibly big range of view as well as the water surfaces make are the most impressive.
