Release Date: 2025
A total conversion mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The goal of The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion was to transfer the content of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion so that it would work on Skyrim's engine. TESRenewal group is responsible for this and they also created Skywind and Morroblivion mods.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion is an ambitious modification (also known as a total conversion mod) for the game the fourth installment of The Elder Scrolls series to the engine of the fifth part.
The team behind Skyblivion is called TESRenewal. They did all the work for free and also made their creation available for no additional costs. This is not the only mod from this team - their projects The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind to the Skyrim engine) and The Elder Scrolls: Morroblivion (transferring Morrowind to the Oblivion engine) were being developed in parallel.
The work on The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion began in 2012, when a programmer known as Zilav prepared the technological demo. Over time, a second author ed him - Monocleus (previously known as Ormin). After two years, the duo managed to develop a stable, albeit still very early version of the project, and then launched its promotional campaign. Thanks to this, over time, other people began to them, expressing their willingness to help them complete it.
Although the premiere of Skyblivion was a song of the distant future, work progressed year by year. In January 2025, all the most important mechanics were already in place, and the game world project was 93 percent complete. The only thing left for the creators to do at that time was to fill in the last "blank spot" on the Cyrodiil map, as well as add data about the terrain that NPCs (navmesh) can move around.
The main goal of the creators of The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion project was to reconstruct the base version of the game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. For this reason, the modification does not introduce too many new elements (which does not mean that we will not experience any of them). Moreover, it lacks content from the Shivering Isles expansions (although there was a possibility that such would be added after the premiere).
The most obvious difference is the graphic design (the mod uses 4K resolution textures and models of better quality than those from the "base version of Skyrim"). TESRenewal's work also stands out against the original Oblivion mainly due to the thoroughly redesigned interface. The creators also managed to transfer the mechanics of character class creation (Create-A-Class) to their project. Authors of the mod encountered significant problems with the implementation of the spell creation system known from the original, which put its presence in Skyblivion into question.
In addition to this, the described mod includes all quests and enemies from the base Oblivion. The authors managed to add some new quests and additional enemies. Developers also restored some of the content cut from the original game, such as the lost city of Sutch, located between Anvil and Kvatch, which was expanded.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion requires the games The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition to run.
