The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game is a virtual adaptation of the card game created by Fantasy Flight Games and based on the license of The Lord of the Rings.
The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game takes players on another journey to Middle-earth – a fictional world known from the books written by J.R.R. Tolkien (especially The Lord of the Rings trilogy). The inhabitants of Middle-earth again are facing the threat posed by the Dark Lord Sauron. Three heroes need to oppose this threat.
Even though The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game is indeed a card game, it is much different from other games classified as such. There are no typical matches against other players such as these featured in Gwent. Instead, players participate in a story-driven campaign and try to lead three heroes through five elaborate tasks. One begins the game by selecting characters and assembling the deck using the available cards. Each hero is assigned to one of four categories: Knowledge, Spirit, Leadership, and Tactics – each one with different bonuses for the team. Thus it is crucial to make the right choice in building the deck and selecting the character.
After assembling the deck, the game picks a random scenario comprising a number of procedurally generated events and enemies, making each gameplay unique. During the missions, players engage in turn-based battles with the enemies by drawing cards that can summon creatures onto the battlefield, cast spells, etc.
Unlike typical card games, The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game does not offer a multiplayer PvP mode and focuses only on the single-player mode. Additionally, players can enjoy the cooperative mode.
The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game features visuals similar to other games representing the similar genre. Players get boards resembling locations known from The Lord of the Rings books such as Mirkwood and plains of Rohan. Moreover, the illustrations on the cards have been taken from the original tabletop game.

Game Ratings for The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game Video Game.
Digitally ed: 4 / 5 by Matt Sainsbury
I walked into The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game fully expecting yet another attempt to "do Hearthstone" on the Nintendo Switch. I walked away thoroughly impressed with how completely the game surprised me.
Nintendo Life: 7 / 10 by Dom Reseigh-Lincoln
The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game offers up an unusual mixture of cooperative play and narrative-driven battles that flies in the face of more traditional digital CCGs. If you're looking for a card game more aligned with the rules of a tabletop effort, with more of a role-playing focus, this is definitely going to appeal. The lack of proper for online PvP is an odd omission considering how popular that feature is in other entries in the genre, but a refreshing lack of suffocating microtransactions does help soothe that wound.

While deck building and card battling games have made their appearance on the Switch in a few different forms, none of them has been quite like this...
