Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland is a free-to-play game, the action of which takes place in a universe known from looter shooters developed by Massive Entertainment / Ubisoft Massive studio. This is a world in which civilisation has been destroyed by the smallpox virus. The game presents a new story and shows this setting from a different perspective. It was developed by Red Storm studio (the team has helped with both parts of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier).

Tom Clancy's The Division is a series of third-person shooters with RPG elements (so-called looter shooters), created with multiplayer gameplay in mind. The series was developed by Ubisoft-owned studio Massive Entertainment, in cooperation with Red Storm Entartainment, Ubisoft Reflections and Ubisoft Annency.
Ubisoft has had an excellent fiscal year but has lost many employees recently. The company also hopes to regain its leadership position in the open-world game market.
