Echoes of the Dark Past is the expansion to Two Worlds II developed by the creators of the base game – the Polish Reality Pump studio. The add-on described herein is available on PC and focuses on the multiplayer mode.
Plot
Two Worlds II: Echoes of the Dark Past takes players to the eastern part of the fantasy land of Antaloor, where the main protagonist is invited by Dr. Lavarius working the Veneficus University of New Ashos. The player is tasked with investigating the mysterious ruins erected by the of the ancient Tenebrae order. Ever since the order seized to exist, no living man has entered the ruins. According to the rumors, the place hides unimaginable treasures, so the main protagonist is not the only adventure-seeker who decided to go there unmindful of the ancient evil allegedly lurking inside the ruins.
Mechanics
The PC release of Two Worlds II: Echoes of the Dark Past introduces new story-related and side quests available to complete across three new maps – The Forbidden Mines, The Begrimed Grotto, and The Ancient Temple. Moreover, this expansion introduces several magic cards (allowing players to summon various aids on the battlefield), over three hundred pieces of gear for one's character (including new weapons, clothes, and armors), twenty new colors allowing players to customize the looks of their inventory as they see fit, and new enemies. There are also the new Tenebrae shrines, where players can regenerate their health and mana, chests hiding power crystals, and improvements such as the increased level cap of the encountered monsters.
Technical aspects
Two Worlds II: Echoes of the Dark Past for PC features an exclusive soundtrack – the developers have also improved the look of the weapons available in the game. Due to the fact that this is not a standalone expansion, players need to own a copy of the base game in order to play it.
