Cyberpunk 2 entered pre-production phase. CD Projekt Red is getting serious about Project Orion, but we'll be waiting a long time for it
The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is entering the next stage of development. CD Projekt has announced the current status of work on Cyberpunk 2, previously known as Project Orion.

CD Projekt announced in the Project Orion.
As previously Cyberpunk 2077. Let's recall that in the first months of 2025, there were 84 of them, so the project team has increased by 12 people.
Despite the growing team of creators, we'll have to wait a long time for the title. Pre-production is a really early stage of work. During an investor conference, Michal Nowakowski, one of the CEOs of CD Projekt Group, mentioned that this stage usually takes CD Projekt RED about "an average of 4-5 years." Nevertheless, the developers emphasized that "every project is unique" and therefore they don't want to indicate a "specific year" as the release date for Cyberpunk 2.
Also, the creators of The Witcher series have achieved a significant milestone with the expansion to the first Cyberpunk. The sale of the Phantom Liberty DLC (released in September 2023) has exceeded 10 million copies.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be one of the games available on the Nintendo Switch 2 on its release day, which is June 5, 2025. Below you can watch the commentary of Piotr Nielubowicz - the CFO of the company - regarding the financial results of CDP for the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
