Dune is a science fiction spectacle which takes place in the distant future on a desert planet Arrakis - also known as Dune. The reason for human presence in this inhospitable world is melange, a precious substance which makes interstellar travel, predicting the future, and most importantly: prolonging life possible. The moment when we meet the protagonists - Duke Leto Atreides, Lady Jessica and their son Paul - is the starting point of the conflict between the Atreides and the Harkonnen families. The former have received Dune as a fief from Emperor Shaddam IV. The latter cannot accept the fact that their influence has been taken away from them. Arrakis is the heart of the universe, and whoever holds power over the planet is said to control the entire galaxy.
The cast of Villeneuve's work includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem. The premiere of Dune will take place on September 3.
