E3 2022 Cancelled [UPDATED]

Update:

There is still no official announcement from the ESA, but more representatives of the industry media confirm that E3 2022 will not take place in any form. One of them - Stephen Totilo, a gaming journalist writing for Axios - published on Twitter a screenshot that is supposed to present a statement from the aforementioned organization.

According to its content E3 will return in 2023 in a new format - both physical and online. Supposedly we can expect more interactive experience, bringing together all representatives of the industry.

What exactly does this mean? We'll certainly find out soon enough when ESA finally makes its decision public.

This January we will get a repeat of last year, when the event was held online. However, thanks to Razer's PR employee Will Powers, we found out that this year's edition of the E3 won't take place at all. His reports have been independently confirmed by IGN.

One of the biggest gaming events will return in 2023 at the earliest - if at all. And what awaits us this summer? Well, we can hope that individual companies will organize individual shows of their games.

How did Geoff Keighley, who runs Summer Game Fest, the event that usually precedes E3, react to all this? His Twitter posted an entry inviting fans of digital entertainment for the next edition of the event in June. More details about it are to be announced in the coming weeks.

It is worth noting that the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) - the organizer of the E3 fair - has not yet made an official statement on this matter to the public. However, it seems to be just a matter of time.
