Our relationship with Nintendo goes back to the original Nintendo Switch, where we released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We were happy with how that game was received by players so, when we heard about the more powerful Nintendo Switch 2, we immediately thought it would be the perfect platform for Cyberpunk 2077.

These are the words of Filip Downar, the main gameplay designer at the studio, who spoke with Eurogamer. He also said that the team is "delighted" with the opportunity to work again with Nintendo and can't wait to "see how the community explores the game in new ways."

Regarding the release of Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2, some fans might be curious if The Witcher 3 will also receive a port. Downar wasn't too eager to give a definitive answer and conveyed that for now, CD Projekt RED is "completely focused on Cyberpunk."

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. However, as history has shown, it is not the ideal platform to play this game. Nonetheless, the fact that such a big game runs at all on this, after all, weak console, can be considered a small miracle.

The second Switch will backward compatibility, allowing its owners to play The Witcher 3. However, the issue of the graphical downgrade, which was necessary for Geralt to begin his adventure on the Switch, will still be there. CD Projekt RED could prepare a version dedicated to the new console, just like Nintendo does with many of its titles. At this moment, however, it is not known whether this will happen.

Nintendo Switch 2, and thus also Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, will be released on June 5th.
