Hot Lava blends Mirror’s Edge with children's imagination
An indie title from Don’t Starve developers, Hot Lava, combines first-person parkour mechanics with children’s imagination, creating a bright don’t-touch-the-floor survival.
The floor is lava. We are all aware of this now, we were also aware of this during our childhood, when leaving the living room in tatters was considered a perfectly justified behavior – after all, landing on that glass tabletop was really the only way to save your feet from being severely burnt. One would say that upon hitting puberty, the “Floor is lava” game becomes utterly childish. ‘Quite the contrary,’ said Klei Entertainment, the team behind Hot Lava. The game will make use of complex first-person parkour mechanics to help you rush through school hallways, classrooms, and other closed and open spaces while avoiding the floor – that is literally lava.
Performing impossible jumps, reaching impossible speeds, visiting impossible, fantastic locations, multiplayer, and not destroying the actual house are all counted in as the game’s features. How long until time-travelling to your childhood imagination becomes possible? This we’re not yet aware of, although you should expect Hot Lava to debut near the end of the year.
