Grimbart Tales Studio and Assemble Entertainment have announced ITORAH, a classic 2D action platformer with hand-painted visuals. The game is scheduled to debut later this year.

- ITORAH, a 2D action-oriented platformer that will feature hand-painted graphics, was announced;
- The game will be available exclusively on PC and will debut this year.
Fans of action-oriented platform games will no doubt be familiar with ITORAH from Grimbart Tales and Assemble Entertainment is taking a similar path.
While reading about ITORAH you can find quite a few similarities to the aforementioned work of Humble Hearts. This title will also be a mostly classic platformer, featuring dynamic action, and in addition, its graphics were painted by hand, and then brought to life through animation (the main character alone will have more than two hundred animations). A foretaste of how it looks in action, can be seen on the trailer below.
Action of ITORAH will take place in the pre-Columbian Mesoamerica-inspired land of Nahucan. It is in great danger, threatened by the Black Plague. During the game we play as the eponymous Itorah, who seems to be the last living human. She sets off on an expedition to save the land she calls her home. During her journey she will be helped by a gallery of colourful characters, led by a talkative gun who serves as her guide.

Both Artur Backer, co-founder of Grimbart Tales, and Stefan Marcinek, CEO of Assemble Entertainment, were very enthusiastic about the game and their cooperation. Quoting the former's words (via Gematsu):
“With Assemble on board as our publishing partner, the launch of ITORAH becomes a reality and we couldn’t be more excited. ITORAH is an absolute labor of love, and our first game, so it’s really a thrilling time for us. As indie developers, we have the creative freedom to envision a universe that is shaped by numerous memories that fascinated us as children. Our goal is to create similar experiences for future generations and to on our ion for the fantastical.”
And here is what Marcinek had to say.
"ITORAH is a game any player will feel instantly familiar with. It takes all the best elements of the 8 and 16-bit platforming days and top-quality features that contemporary players expect and combines them with a hand-crafted vibrant aesthetic with tight, fluid gameplay and a heartwarming story filled with endearing characters.”

ITORAH is coming exclusively to PC and is expected to debut later this year.
