Microsoft Confirms Activision Games Will be Released on PlayStation
Microsoft has confirmed that Activision Blizzard games will not disappear from PlayStation consoles. In addition, the option of releasing titles on Nintendo devices is also considered.
Microsoft announced that Blizzard will continue to release games for PlayStation consoles after the Activision acquisition is finalized. Additionally, there was also a mention suggesting that expansion into Nintendo devices is planned as well.
Such information was found in a post published on the official website of the Redmond giant. It mentions Microsoft's compliance with antitrust laws in various countries. As it is related to the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the following information can be found in the text:
"To be clear, Microsoft will continue to make Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles available on PlayStation through the term of any existing agreement with Activision. And we have committed to Sony that we will also make them available on PlayStation beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love. We are also interested in taking similar steps to Nintendo’s successful platform. We believe this is the right thing for the industry, for gamers and for our business."
Please note that Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard is yet to be finalized. At this time it is known that the entire transaction is to be examined by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Microsoft expects the procedure to be finalized by the end of the next fiscal year, which is June 2023.
