Renowned industry insider and CEO of Viral Junkie - Tom Henderson - stated Grand Theft Auto series will get both a male protagonist and a female protagonist. If this information is confirmed, this will be the first part of the series in which we will be able to play as a woman.
We do not know whether Henderson meant that the game will offer several playable characters - as, for example, in Assassin's Creed series). The latter scenario would undoubtedly be a big change for the GTA series.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that there are rumors about a female protagonist in GTA 6 - we already had similar information back in August 2017. It should also be noted that Henderson did not his reports with any details and did not provide what they are based on - so for now it is fair to treat them as rumors.
