Piranha Plant Switch 2 Camera might be the cheaper option
A new version of the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera was revealed today, sporting a Piranha Plant design. Oddly, it might be cheaper than the standard camera.

Today, a special edition of the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera was discovered. At the time of writing, it has only been spotted on European site, MediaMarkt, but it looks too good not to stop me in my tracks. The design is based on the classic Mario enemy, Piranha Plant. A solid green pipe base with the plant stem snaking out of the top, along with the red flower head and teeth holding the camera. According to this site, this edition of the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera will cost about 40 euros, which converts to about 45 USD.
Piranha Plant Nintendo Switch 2 Camera might be cheaper than the official one
The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera debuted during yesterday’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct as part of an optional add on for certain games and Game Chat, Nintendo’s new online voice chat feature. From Nintendo’s website, the official camera will cost $49.99, which could potentially make it more expensive than the Piranha Plant version. Somehow, this doesn’t seem right, but we will have to see in the future when information becomes more solid. Apparently, the Piranha Plant can shut its mouth to block the camera when you want privacy, which is a nice touch.
This camera has several key functions. It’s primarily for use with Game Chat. Turn it on when you are on a call with someone and the camera will project a video of you over your gameplay so that people can see you. But it also can be used in exclusive DLC for Jamboree, it looks like players might be fully projected onto the screen for certain mini games.
Currently, many Mario Kart World, which is priced at $79.99. But the accessories have drawn some ire as well. To get a second pair of Joy-Cons for the new console, s will have to pay $89.99 according to Nintendo’s official website.
On the bright side, when it comes to the camera, it’s not the only device that is compatible with the new Switch. From Nintendo’s dedicated camera page, you can use their camera “or any compatible USB-C camera you’d like.” Which is a nice option. Plus, if the Piranha Plant camera ends up being the cheaper option, everyone might just have one of those instead. Gotta save money for Mario Kart World somehow.
