Survival is a popular gaming genre. From time-to-time different developers try to tempt players with their visions of the gameplay. The next contestant, studio Mardonpol Inc., is here with its Project Castaway. This time players are taken on the island surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. Your task is to survive. Will you be able to do that on consoles, though? Let’s find out.
Project Castaway - Console (PS5, PS4, Xbox) Release
If you have a console and would like to play Project Castaway, we have bad news for you. The game will be ported (we do not know on which consoles, though), but not anytime soon. According the to the developers themselves (via Discord FAQ):
Will the game come to consoles?
Yes, although it is not on an immediate roap.
Additionally, in one of the posts on Steam, a developer answered that the console version is a target for a full release, along coop mode – a little bit more precise information than in FAQ.
So, when should we expect console ports? According to the Project Castaway description on Steam, developers predict that early access will take 1-2 years. From my personal experience, I believe that it is safe to take the latter as a realistic date. EA tends to take longer than developers anticipate due to various reasons. So, you have to be patient. The good thing is that you will be able to play with friends when the time comes. Until then, you should look for alternatives in our Encyclopedia.
