Next week, Valve will hold a conference on Steamworks, aiming to help game developers make their games work on Steam Deck.

IN A NUTSHELL:

Valve announced a virtual conference on Steamworks, dedicated to its Steam Deck console. The event will take place on November 12, this year.

The event will be attended by of the team that developed the Steam Deck. They will present game developers with information and practices to tailor their productions for this device. s are planned on the following topics:

  1. Steam Deck hardware;
  2. Customizing games without a devkit;
  3. Steam on Deck;
  4. Proton ;
  5. Steam Input;
  6. Evaluating compatibility with Steam Deck;
  7. Discussing APUs with AMD.

Each will be divided into two parts. After the lectures there will be live Q&A sessions with Valve's employees.

The conference will start on November 12 at 11am PT. It will be held through the Steamworks platform, and participation will be free. However, only Steamworks partners will be allowed to attend.

The conference itself will be conducted in English. Valve has announced, however, that recordings of the event will be made available in a number of other languages in the days following the event.

Shipping of the first units of Steam Deck to consumers will begin in December 2021. Unfortunately, all copies prepared for this year have already been distributed. If you make a reservation today, you will have to wait until the second half of 2022 for delivery.
