„Korean Witcher” - Info on Dark RPG From PUBG Devs
The success of The Witcher inspired many developers. Apparently, the list includes the creators of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, who are preparing an action RPG based on the license of Korean dark fantasy novels.

Since May, we've known that Krafton plans to develop a "multimedia IP" under license from the Korean book series titled The Bird That Drinks Tears by Yeong-do Lee. Apparently, the inspiration for the The Witcher. This is according to the information given during the recent press conference, which was reported by a well-known dataminer PlayerIGN on Twitter.
What exactly is the similarity between the Korean project and the series developed by CD Projekt RED? First of all, Project Windless which is the title of the new game based on the The Bird That Drinks Tears license, is to take the form of a single-player action RPG, maintained in the dark fantasy convention ("new", because back in 2019 a mobile MMORPG was announced). If that alone doesn't evoke at least loose associations with The Witcher, take a look at the graphics from the presentation posted by PlayerIGN (vide the Twitter entry visible above).
Secondly - Krafton is preparing not only video games. The company wants to transfer the world created by Yeong-do Lee to films,TV series, comics, etc., as it happened in the case of The Witcher universe. In other words, the Koreans are hoping to repeat the success of Geralt with their own fantasy IP, which is hardly surprising. After all, Krafton even has plans to adapt PUBG, which, needless to say, is not known for its rich (or any) story layer.
Unfortunately, the fact that only concept art was presented makes it clear that Project Windless is at a very early stage of development. This means some time will before we get any details. Perhaps a very long time even, since we still know absolutely nothing even about was revealed back in December 2019.
