Netflix Confirms The Witcher Season 2 Wrapped Shooting; Premiere Later This Year
Netflix has officially confirmed the end of shooting for The Witcher season 2. Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer and Jaskier will return to our screens later this year.
Just yesterday we reported that Henry Cavill, aka Geralt, the title character of Netflix's The Witcher, was giving gifts to of the production team to celebrate the completion of work on the second season, and today the company has officially notified the world that the production of season 2 was wrapped. Footage posted on YouTube also confirms that new episodes will be released later this year.

Series showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich also shared some numbers that speak volumes about the scope of The Witcher's second season. According to her, the shooting took 158 days and involved visiting 15 different locations in the UK. A total of 89 actors and actresses and 1200 of the production crew took part in the work on the continuation of the adventures of Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, and Jaskier. And, of course, a whole lot of monsters.
The American producer also revealed the scope of the plot of the second season of the series. The story, as in the first season, will be based on Andrzej Sapkowski's books. This time it will not be only the short story collections The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, but also the first novel of the five-volume main saga, Blood of Elves. Hissrich also revealed that some of the plots threads may even touch upon the events presented in the second volume, Time of Contempt. We can also assume that the creators of the show will include some events from the novel Season of Storms, which takes place before the beginning of the saga.

What else can we expect from the second season of The Witcher? Certainly a spectacular show will finally get new armors - do we need anything else?
It's hard to predict how long the post-production of season 2 will last. However, as April has just begun, Netflix should easily keep its promise and bring us new episodes later, this year. I think that, judging by the air date of the first season, we can bet on December 2021.
