What is Frostpunk 2 about?
The action of the sequel is set three decades after the events presented in the original. However, the basic assumptions haven't changed. Once again, we take on the role of a city steward, and our main goal is to do everything possible to ensure the city survives in a hostile, freezing climate. It's crucial to maintain an appropriately high temperature in buildings and to provide food. So far, coal has been the fuel maintaining heat in the generators. Nevertheless, the growth of New London led to carbon losing its effectiveness. The new hope for survival is oil.
What makes it worth playing?
In short, it's a very good strategy game with simulation elements, developed by the Polish studio 11 bit studios.
If you were bothered by micromanagement in the first installment, we have good news. In Frostpunk 2, the scale is larger and for instance, instead of worrying about where to build a single building, we immediately create an entire district. Over time, it will also be necessary to establish colonies engaged in resource extraction, which are then transported to the city. The scale has also changed. From now on, we are trying to reconcile the interests of all factions. Politics is an important and challenging aspect of the sequel. The devs didn't take shortcuts and the sequel is significantly different from the original - it's not Frostpunk with new scenarios... and that's very good. The bold and risky approach paid off.
