Destiny Expansion Pack
Release Date: September 20, 2016
Another major expansion to the multiplayer FPS by Bungie Software, published in autumn 2014. Destiny: Rise of Iron is the first expansion available exclusively for the 8th generation of consoles and it requires the previous extension, called The Taken King, to work.
Destiny: Rise of Iron released on PS4 and XONE is another DLC for Destiny: The Taken King to work.
The plot focuses on destruction of the great wall located on southern border of Old Russia. The breach enables hordes of fallen mutants get into the thumbs of the Golden Age, filled with valuable artefacts. To make matters worse, the plague unearthed by the mutants poses a threat to everyone. Along with Lord Saladin, in Destiny: Rise of Iron players set off on a journey with the aim of stopping all the threats and by the way they learn the truth about the Iron Lords’ fate.
Published on PS4 and XONE, Destiny: Rise of Iron does not dramatically change mechanics and centres on the additional content. The DLC offers a new campaign with a whole set of new main and side missions. The game introduces additional weapons, armours, and other useful items. Also, the character’s maximum development level is raised.
The game features new terrains – The Plaguelands. There are also new locations designed for community interaction between players, known as Felwinter Peak.
During gameplay you face a new fraction of enemies and a few bosses. Additionally, the game features a new coop adventure – the Raid, designed for six players and a Strike mission for a team of three players. Destiny: Rise of Iron also offers something for PvP mode fans – the Crucible with a few additional modes and maps.

Destiny is a series of first-person shooters with a touch of MMO and RPG elements. The series combines a science fiction climate with fantasy elements: players take on the role of futuristic warriors using both firearms and supernatural powers. The main job here is to eliminate soldiers of alien races that serve the ancient cosmic Darkness. During the execution of missions, even the story missions, we can encounter other players and cooperate with them. The fun is accompanied by acquiring better and better weapons and armor, known from erpegs, as well as climbing to new experience levels and unlocking new skills.

GamesRadar+: 4 / 5 by David Houghton
Assured creativity and a smart eye for systemic refreshment make for a confident and classy expansion.

The biggest disappointment of the expansion comes in the form of the new social arena, the Archon’s Forge. Billed as a mix between the Prison of Elders and the Court of Oryx, Bungie made some unfortunate design decisions when putting the forge together. They’ve since fixed one of those, making it easier to get SIVA Offerings (which you need to activate the forge), but the instanced event still suffers from a lack of connected players. This is one event that feels like it would have been better used as its own instance in the game (like the Prison of Elders), but instead the Court of Oryx approach leaves a lot of players to tackle their Offerings on their own, which defeats the entire purpose of the encounter. This makes it tougher to take on the more difficult events in the Forge, which has been a huge turn-off for a lot of players so far.
Metro GameCentral: 6 / 10
The stuff that is genuinely new is very good, but there’s so little of it that the sense of déja vu, in a game that is already so repetitious, becomes overwhelming.
