The release of The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered has become a fact. After 19 years, fans can finally play the visually refreshed legendary RPG. However, as it happens in the case of remastered titles, they are not only for old-timers, but also for those completely new people who, for various reasons, bounced from the original version of the game (or have never given it a chance at all). It means that many new players may try this classic for the first time, unaware of its mechanics or what have changed in the fresh version. That's why we will talk about respec, i.e. the possibility of resetting your abilities and attributes, and whether it is possible in this game.
Is respec possible in TES IV Oblivion Remastered?
Respec is a mechanic that allows you, usually for an in-game fee, to reset your skills and attributes. This is common in RPG games, where improving your character not only with equipment, but also with various abilities, is very important. Speaking of which, there are a lot of skills and attributes in Oblivion Remastered, because of that it’s easy to make a mistake in of your character's build. So, can you respec in the game?
The answer to this question is unfortunately no. In both TES IV: Oblivion and the remastered version, respec is not possible (mods, on the other hand, may solve this issue in the near future). In the game you can level up Major Skills and Minor Skills. Using the former will make you gain XP quickly to improve your character's stats, while leveling the latter is not as effective. However, don’t look at that, if you really want to change your build, be sure to use often those skills that work well with your style of gameplay, and you will quickly get more points to invest.
