Frostpunk 1886 revealed by 11 bit studios. Set to release in 2027, it’s going to be a fresh take on the original game

Recently, Frostpunk 1886. According to its Steam page, it’s going to be “the original Frostpunk experience reimagined and expanded.”

Frostpunk 1886 – Same cold, new fire

Frostpunk 1886 is an reimagining of the original game, rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine. Set once again in New London during the brutal winter of 1886, it promises enhanced visuals, refined mechanics, and brand-new content. All while staying true to the spirit of the original.

Well, the announcement trailer didn’t reveal much, but the game’s Steam page gives us a better idea of what to expect. In Frostpunk 1886, we’ll once again step into the role of the Captain, tasked with leading society through brutal, unforgiving conditions. With new events, laws, technologies, and buildings, we’ll have more tools than ever to manage dwindling resources and navigate tough moral decisions.

On top of that, a brand-new Purpose Path will be introduced alongside the existing Faith and Order options, giving us even more ways to shape our society and define what kind of leader we become.

And for the first time in the series, mod is coming! Community-driven content and future expansions will finally be possible – better late than never, right?

Frostpunk 1886 is set to release in 2027. No specific date has been announced yet, but we should be hearing more soon. And with their promising game around the corner, it’s clear 11 bit studios is keeping the momentum going.
