Record Amount of 3.4 Million PS5 Units Delivered to Stores
DigiTimes reports that Sony has shipped 3.4 million units of PlayStation 5 to the stores. This data, although unconfirmed, seems to be in line with the information provided so far.

Among the many inconveniences caused by the coronavirus epidemic, there were also those that mainly affected gamers. The problems with the availability of consoles have come to the fore, as anyone trying to purchase the new PlayStation has found out. Nevertheless, Sony has allegedly shipped 3.4 million PS5s to the stores in the first four weeks. DigiTimes (via Serkan Toto on Twitter) reports that in 2021 the company plans to reach 18 million "sold" consoles.
It should be noted that the credibility of DigiTimes is not absolute - the Taiwanese website used to post dubious reports as confirmed facts so often that it has earned a parody on Twitter with the much-vaunted name "Fake Digitimes". It's also hard to believe the brand's alleged record sales of PlayStation 5 in a context of severely limited availability. The PS4 needed a month and a half under much more favorable conditions to ship 4.2 million units.
It is fair to say, however, that Sony itself recently reached buyers is a different matter.
