The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth is EA's New F2P Game
A new game based on the license of The Lord of the Rings has been announced. This time Electronic Arts launches an F2P RPG titled The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth to conquer the mobile market.

The Lord of the Rings will receive a new video game. Middle-earth Enterprises Group announced renewed cooperation with Electronic Arts company in order to create the next game set in Middle-earth.
If the above words have raised your hopes, for example for the return of the Battle for Middle-earth series, then you will be disappointed. The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth is a F2P "collectible RPG" with turn-based battles, created by Capital Games and aimed at mobile devices. The game will enable us to take part in the "iconic stories" known from J.R.R. Tolkien's works, so it will include not only The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Aside from assurances of the team being made up of Tolkien fans and promises of an "immersive story", so far EA has not revealed much about Heroes of Middle-earth. What we do know is that we will collect numerous characters known from Middle-earth and use them to fight turn-based battles. And that's basically all that was said about the gameplay. The publisher also promises detailed graphics and "cinematic animations," but did not share any screenshots or trailers.
There's no mention of a release date either, but regional beta testing scheduled for the summer has been mentioned.
