You Want The Witcher Season 3? Netflix Has a Condition
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich talked about the future of The Witcher during the conference, revealing what is needed to make a third season possible.

The long-awaited second season of The Witcher is set to arrive on Netflix in December, and fans who have been expecting it are already curious to see if the show will get a green light for another season. Unfortunately, at this point its future is still unknown, which the showrunner discussed during the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, where she said:
"Nothing has been officially ordered yet. Actually, I'm focused on season 2 right now. We already have the premiere date, it's December 17. There is still a lot of work left to do in post-production. So I'm constantly moving between Los Angeles and London, trying to get it done, and that's what I'm focused on right now, because we need a great season 2 to make a season 3."
Netflix is notorious for canceling shows after two or three seasons, even if they're successful, so we can't rule out the possibility of that happening to the slavic monster hunter. But given how much Netflix is investing in The Witcher franchise, creating not only the main series, but also spin-offs such as The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and The Witcher: Blood Origin, there is a good chance that the series will not be canceled after two seasons. Especially since its showrunner recently signed a multi-year deal with Netflix. The contract calls for Lauren Schmidt Hissrich to write and produce series and other content for the platform.
The second season of The Witcher, which will be released in its entirety on Netflix on December 17, will continue Geralt's story based on the Witcher stories and the first book.
