Will this be the true successor to Command & Conquer? Fractured Alliance brings back classic RTS action
This looks like a love letter to good old real-strategy games I’ve been waiting for. Indie devs are working on rich campaigns and exciting multiplayer with a modern touch.

Can you believe we still haven’t gotten a solid mobile spin-offs, indie devs are out here doing their best to bring this RTS legend back to life.
Fractured Alliance – a modern RTS with some strong classic vibes
Supreme Commander. Set in an alternate Cold War-era reality, it will feature three unique factions, each with its own campaign, units and characters. We will uncover hidden agendas, forge alliances – or betray them – as every choice shapes the battlefield.
Tense Games, the developer, emphasizes that they are making Fractured Alliance accessible to both new and veteran RTS players. That’s why they’re adding an automated faction that simplifies gameplay while still allowing direct control when needed. Here’s what they have to say about the game:
We want to make the nostalgic players feel like they did in around the year 2000. We do that by modernizing the graphics and controls, while at the same time delivering players the same vibe that we love so much from games like that.
At its core, Fractured Alliance is meant to be a fun, casual RTS, not a hardcore competitive game. Multiplayer will be included, so you can team up with friends just like in the good old days. A simple ranked ladder might be added later, but for now, it’s not the main focus.
Here’s a full video of a skirmish playtest. We can expect over-the-top action, epic music, and the joy of turtling in our base before unleashing chaos. Fractured Alliance doesn’t have a release date yet, but we can wishlist it now and follow it on X for updates. This isn’t Tense Games’ first project. They launched Stellar Warfare in 2021, and while it’s still in Early Access on Steam, it has mostly positive reviews.
Fractured Alliance is not the only new C&C inspired game out there. Tempest Rising is coming in April, and it already looks instantly good.
