No Man's Sky

  1. Genre: action sandbox
  2. Engine: proprietary, created for the game
  3. Music: 65daysofstatic, Earcom / Paul Weir

It was supposed to be a game of all games, the largest simulator of life in space, generating life on planets on an unprecedented scale. The enormous "hype" didn't immediately translate into stunning sales and ratings – players and critics have complained that 18×16 svgthe world (or the universe, in fact), while exorbitantly large, seems empty and repetitive; there's simply little going on there. The developers, however, learned from their mistakes, making the galaxy more attractive with "bigger events." And they still do, although it's been 6 years since the release!

Today it's by far the best space exploration sim ever made. The engine, programmed especially for the game, enables the procedural generation of fauna and flora of planets in accordance with the principles of physics and biology, making each of them unique.

Each player can therefore discover something that only themselves can see, stumble upon life forms that no one has known before (and probably won't be known in the future either). And even if we aren't interested in the above-mentioned "bigger events," it's worth spending at least a few hours in No Man's Sky, slowly traveling through the galaxy and iring alien planets.
