What kind of game is this?

At first glance, Monster Train developed by Shiny Shoe Studio is strikingly similar to one of the indie hits of last year – Slay the Spire. Both games are a combination of the same genres – card games and roguelikes. Moreover, the mix works really well in both cases. In Monster Train, we go to hell, and our job is to repel the heavenly invasion. We travel aboard a train, and fight the invaders in card games. We can decide for ourselves what route we'll take to the designated location, which influences our deck and the artifacts we obtain.

What made the players like this game so much?

Monster Train, taking advantage of the success of Slay the Spire, has become the perfect escape for those who already grew bored with last year's production. The basic premise has not changed much, what matters most in these games is the ability to create a diverse deck, and the perfectly fresh Monster Train delivers exactly that.
