More launchers!

Steam, uPlay, Origin, GOG Galaxy, Epic Games Launcher, Rockstar Games Launcher, Bethesda Launcher, Blizzard's Battle.net app, Windows Store. I think these are all the launchers we'll find on the PC. At least the more important ones. Every major manufacturer wants to have your app and store for selling games, so we're slowly going back to the days before Steam, when games were not kept in the library of one program, but each led to a separate icon on the desktop.

The times when there was a special icon on the desktop for each game are very eager to return. - What Happens in Video Games Industry in 2020 - dokument - 2019-12-30
The times when there was a special icon on the desktop for each game are very eager to return.

It's only a matter of time before one of these launchers falls, we lose all the libraries it will contain, and a big scandal will break out, resulting in players losing trust for other small stores as well. Then, everything will again be consolidated in the hands of three, maybe four major companies. However, I doubt this will happen next year. For now, we expect rather a reverse trend and other apps to launch games related to stores from subsequent publishers who would prefer to accumulate all the profits from their games rather than pay commissions to others. Capcom doesn't have its own launcher yet. Namko Bandai, neither. Nor Warner Bros. nor Square Enix, Codemasters, Focus Home Interactive, Gearbox, Sega, THQ, Paradox Interactive. Oh, right, Paradox is already trying. If you think there's no one else to go "their own way," I have bad news.…

He started with amateur websites, which he coded himself in HTML, then he moved on to increasingly larger portals. A computer engineer, but he was always more drawn to writing than programming, and he decided to tie his future with the former. In games, he primarily looks for stories, emotions, and immersion that no other medium can provide - hence, among his favorite titles, are games focusing on narration. Believes that NieR: Automata is the best game ever made.
