The third entry in the series of spectacular action games with Batman. It was developed by WB Games Montreal (which previously prepared the Wii U port of Batman: Arkham City) and published by the Warner Bros. company. The story of Batman: Arkham Origins shows the beginning of Batman’s career, taking inspiration from the comic books Batman: Year One and Legends of the Dark Knight. As the protagonist, we face Black Mask and his hired thugs. Like in the previous games from the Batman: Arkham series, gameplay combines features of a fighting game with shooter and stealth elements. Additionally, the creators included some innovations, like a built-in system of challenges.

Another installment in the popular series of adventure games developed by Frogwares. A few years age the series became available for console players as well. Once again, the player takes on the role of the most famous detective of all times, Sherlock Holmes, and together they will solve various criminal riddles. The story takes place in the Victorian London well known from previous installments of the series. The protagonist will have six different cases to solve, including murders, kidnappings, and robberies. The gameplay mechanics were slightly changed in comparison to previous installments. Now, the player is frequently required to make tough moral choices that impact both the gameplay and the endings of the game. For the first time in the series, the game uses the advanced Unreal Engine 3 thanks to which it looks much better.

Also known by the title Canis Canem Edit, Bully is a controversial action game developed by Rockstar Games. Originally, it was released for PlayStation 2, it was soon followed by Scholarship Edition for the next generation of consoles and PCs. The story takes place at the fictional Bullworth Academy, which combines an elite education facility with re-socialization grounds for juvenile offenders. The player assumes the role of a teenager who is trying to survive in these unusual circumstances. The protagonist encounters both strict teachers and unfriendly peers. The game is played from the third-person perspective and the player completes different assignments requiring them both to make friends among the peers and play different pranks on the teaching staff. The protagonist can a local gang as well, which is trying to maintain control over the area forcefully.

A thriller movie-inspired action adventure game. The game was developed by French studio Quantic Dream, creators of such hits as Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit. The plot of Beyond: Two Souls shows fifteen years of life of Jodie Holmes (who is modeled after and voice acted by Ellen Page, Oscar nominee). Since birth, the woman was connected to Aiden, an incorporeal creature that ventured into our world. The game is considered an “interactive drama” as it focuses mostly on storytelling, moral choices, and the cinematic experience. The developers from Quantic Dream took care to deliver high-quality, photorealistic graphics, sound effects, and animations created using the motion capture technology.

Full Throttle Remastered is a remastered edition of the classic 1995 point-and-click adventure game that was developed by LucasArts. Just like the remaster of the Day of the Tentacle, the refreshed version of Full Throttle was created by Double Fine Productions, a studio made of developers of the original game. The game takes place in a grim future where classic vehicles were replaced with the machines powered by antigravity-based engines. We play as the leader of a motorcycle gang, who, along with his companions, is being accused of killing the owner of the last remaining company that produces classic motorbikes. Our job is to clear our name and find the actual person responsible for that murder. Audiovisuals of the original game were visibly refreshed and improved. New high-resolution backgrounds were created for the remastered version, and every animation frame was re-drawn by hand from scratch.

A combination of adventure and arcade games, created by an independent developer known as Infinite Ammo. The player assumes the role of Mae - a cat with paranormal abilities. The protagonist quits her studies and returns to her hometown - Possum Springs, in order to have some quality time with her old friends. The place has fallen into decline since the last mine in town was closed, because the inhabitants have been left without work. What is worse however, is that a neighboring forest has apparently kept some dark secret concealed. The plot serves the role of an parallel to human existence, with themes such as death, transience of all things or longing for certain moments from the past elaborated on throughout the story. The player is required to explore (by jumping across platforms mostly) a unique in-game environment, solve simple puzzles connected to it, talk to NPCs, as well as engage in joyful activities, such as playing the guitar or having fun with the in-game friends. What distinguishes Night in the Woods from other titles, are its visuals based on an original art style - those were crafted by Scott Benson. The unique soundtrack on the other hand, was created by Alec Holowka.

An interactive thriller adventure game developed by studio Quantic Dream (Fahrenheit, Omikron: The Nomad Soul). The player controls several seemingly unrelated characters, each with their own storylines and motivations. How the story develops depends greatly on the decisions made by the player as all plots intertwine until they meet at the game's finale. What’s characteristic for the game is its focus on matters of morality and ethics. The developers took extra care to reflect the various types of human behavior and feelings of the characters in as realistic a way as possible. It can be noticed for example in great facial expressions. The game features high quality graphics with spectacular explosions and realistic weather conditions. It also features a pretty grim vibe that successfully builds an atmosphere of sadness and hopelessness.

An unusual simulator, in which your objective is to bring to life a perfectly functioning species of organisms, starting from the lowest step on the evolution ladder. Mechanics combine elements of many game genres and each stage of your organism’s evolution offers a bit different quests and altered gameplay. Starting with the cell cycle and ending with a whole community, the game offers enormous scope of modification in regard to the appearance and other traits of your species. In later stages of evolution, the primitive organism gets a mouth, limbs, and other attributes that influence its ability to adapt and cope in various external conditions. With the game's progress, elements of competition with other species emerge and our, initially small, village becomes a huge metropolis with the newest technology.

A tactical RTS set during World War II that expands on the Men of War franchise. It was developed by Barbed Wire studio, known for its modifications to both games from Men of War: Assault Squad series. Gates of Hell gives us a wide view on the war, taking us on battlefields of all years and fronts: from snowy plains of USSR to sun-scorched sands of Africa. Gameplay is focused on the tactical layer, without any form of resource gathering or base building. We direct all of our attention to commanding our units, with building being limited to trenches or setting up barbed wire and mine fields. We can also take control of a single soldier and control him like in an action game. One of the strongest elements of the production is realism: the creators have carefully recreated not only appearance, but also battle skills of various armies.

A two-dimensional adventure game with platformer features from the independent Polish team at Juggler Games. It takes players to a fictional city ruled by the Evil King and his army of robots. Certain districts have been separated from others by a high wall, and this ghetto is used to contain the so called “worse part of society”. The players take control of two kids trying to survive in the cruel new reality. My Memory Of Us uses side-view camera angle to present the world, and the controlled duo must each other to overcome all obstacles and solve all puzzles. One of the game’s selling points is a simplified dialogue system based on symbols, as well as its setting being inspired by actual life in Poland under German occupation during World War II, especially inside Jewish ghettos. It also stands out with the monochromatic colors of its visuals.

The second part of an outstanding first-person logic game from Valve Software, powered by the improved version of Source Engine, mainly known from Half-Life 2. The story starts a few hundred years after the events of the original game. Once again you play as Chell, who is awaken after having spent a long time asleep in a hibernation chamber. Trying to find her way out of Aperture laboratories, she gets stopped by an artificial intelligence that manages the compound. The AI puts the protagonist against new challenges. In order to deal with them, the heroine has to prove her knowledge of the laws of physics and make a good use of a special device able to move objects and open worm-hole portals. In the sequel, the developers gave the players much more freedom of action. This not only enriched the gameplay, but also made it much more demanding. Portal 2 features a co-op mode, offering an additional campaign with a separate storyline.

An original horror game created by Scott Cawthon, an independent gamemaker. The player assumes the role of a watchman who takes up a seasonal job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. What is important about the restaurant, is that mechanical mascots are its main attraction. A seemingly easy job turns into a true nightmare during the very first night, when the protagonist discovers that the sympathetic animatronics come to life after dark and display a hostile attitude towards humans. Trapped in a cramped watch room, the protagonist has to avoid with murderous robots during five subsequent nights. The task is not easy, because using various devices, such as lighting and monitoring systems, as well as locking the door drains the power supply, which has to be appropriately managed throughout the entire night. Despite its simplistic mechanics, Five Nights at Freddy's provides a good dose of anxiety and is capable of frightening the player with ease.

An old-school RPG from the independent developer Toby Fox, referencing the Earthbound series. Undertale's story takes place in a world that was witness to a lengthy, cruel war between humans and monsters after a long period of coexistence between both races. It ended with humans driving the monsters underground. Many years later, somewhere in the vicinity of the now-legendary mount Ebott, a little girl looking for shelter from the rain finds a cave and in it a mysterious hole, through which she falls. We play as this girl and explore the underground world, facing various monsters and interacting with various characters. The game’s most characteristic feature is the innovative battle system – we can engage in direct combat in the form of arcade minigames or avoid more difficult fights through talking and complimenting.

A sequel to the 2015 game by Mouldy Toof which was a unique arcade 2D platformer with elements of logic and RPG productions. In The Escapist 2, the players assume the role of inmates locked up in heavily-guarded prisons, and their task is to work out the security system and to escape. To do so, we have to look for allies and items that can be crafted into useful tools while pretending that we tend to our usual prison routines. Compared to the original, the game features a myriad of enhancements such as new ways of spending spare time, a modified combat system, a possibility of creating previously unavailable items, and new ways of escaping. One of the biggest novelties is the introduction of a drop in/drop out multiplayer mode in which up to four players can play on a split screen or over the Internet.

An action game set in the world of pirates. Created by Miroslaw Dymek, a legendary Polish game maker responsible for series such as Earth 21XX or Polanie. The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt lacks a main storyline driving the gameplay. The action takes place in an extensive, open-world environment recreating a large part of the Caribbean. The player controls a captain of a pirate ship, whose aim is to gain fame and riches at sea. The game consists of completing subsequent missions that focus mainly on combat and exploration. The player plunders cargo ships, pirate bases, forts, and harbors. Between the missions, the player can make improvements to their fleet, choosing from sixteen diversified classes of ships, upgraded alongside their progress in the game. In-game sailing features realistic mechanics, making it a great asset to the game - this element was based on the personal experiences of the creator, who is an avid sailor himself. The game has offers extended online features as well, allowing the players to create their own pirate clans.

The fourth and final installment of the independent horror game series by Scott Cawthon. In Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, we have to face the murderous animatronic toys yet again. Compared to its predecessors, the title's gameplay formula has been changed. While plying, we do not assume the role of a security guard anymore, but a small child that has to survive the five eponymous nights in his own home which is overrun by bloodthirsty toys. We cannot track their movements by a monitoring system and have to check out each of the five available locations (two parts of a kid's bedroom, cabinet, and left and right hall) on our own. For the first time in history of the series, we can run, peek through the door, look into the cabinet, and turn around. Our only weapon is the flashlight that lets us scare the animatronics away.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 provides a continuation to an unusual game created by Scott Cawthon and awarded a series of prizes - it was considered the most original horror title of 2014. In this second installment, the player takes on the role of a new watchman working at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Despite the warnings received from his predecessor, he decided to give it a try and stay at the restaurant overnight. Although the entire building was rebuilt and the famous animatronics were gifted with completely new software along with a face recognition system, the robots are still hungry for human lives after dark. Surviving five subsequent nights at the restaurant turns out to be quite a challenge. In of the mechanics, the second installment is based on a slightly modified gameplay formula of the original game. Instead of being in charge of a lighting system, the protagonist is equipped with only a flashlight. The watch room has one entrance only now, but without a door. Thus the only way to avoid getting killed by the animatronics here is to put on a special mask which fools the face recognition systems of the robots.

A detective adventure game from the visual novel genre. It was developed by Japan studio Spike Chunsoft. The main protagonist of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Naegi Makoto, is a teenager who starts his education in an elite high school. In contrast to his colleagues, he has no remarkable achievements and he was accepted to the school by winning a lottery. Soon after the school year starts, Makoto and a group of other students are trapped inside the school building and a digitally-controlled mascot informs them that, in order to escape from the trap, one of them must murder someone else in such way that it will be impossible to find out who is guilty. The game is divided into three separate phases. First the player speaks with selected students, builds relations and learns interesting facts. When the murder happens, the player is tasked with gathering evidence and testimonies. Finally the action moves to a court room where during a trial one must find out who the murderer is through a series of minigames.

A sequel to the detective adventure visual novel released in 2010 by Spike Chunsoft. In Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair the player assumes the role of a completely new protagonist named Hajime Hinata. He is accepted to an elite high school despite the fact that he cannot what he did to earn that honor. During one of the school trips the class of the protagonist is imprisoned on a tropical island. In order to escape, the students must murder one of their friends and avoid being caught by their colleagues. The gameplay mechanics are based on the same principles as the original game and they are split into three separate phases, in which one must first participate in conversations, then gather testimonies and evidence in the murder case, and finally go to a trial and type the murderer.

Developed by the thatgamecompany studio, Journey is a remarkably unique exploration game, in which we embark on a journey through the desert sands. Our goal is to reach the summit of a great mountain, constantly visible on the horizon. A distinctive feature of Journey is the fact that we do not get a lot of exposure - the production lacks a classic narrative and does not have any dialogues; the nature of our protagonist and of the world we are in, which once harbored a mighty civilization, is all but unknown to us, a mystery, the true nature of which we can only speculate. The game consists of semi-open levels, which contain various puzzles and hidden locations. After ing through each of them we arrive at the next stage and the accompanying cut-scenes allow us to gradually discover and interpret the subsequent fragments of the plot. Journey also has one very intriguing curio - while playing the online mode we can encounter other players and at any time start playing in the co-op mode - but we still have to make do without verbal communication. All of the above is distinguished by an unusual, melancholic atmosphere and very artistic visuals, with focus on a minimalistic but incisive graphic style.

An arcade action game based on the license of a popular TV series bearing the same title. The player once again assumes the role of Ben Tennyson - the protagonist has to face the forces of evil threatening the entire world. Ben is not alone however, as both cousin Gwen and grandfather Max him on his quest. Similar to previous installments of the series, Ben 10 is played from a third-person view. The player traverses diverse locations, jumps across platforms, avoids various threats, solves simple environmental puzzles and fights foes that appeared in the original TV series. In combat, Ben makes use of the special Omnitrix device, which enables him to shapeshift into the forms of ten creatures from other planets - in so doing, the protagonist gains the advantage over their enemies. Juggling quick, light attacks and slower but stronger strikes skilfully is also crucial for victory, apart from linking attacks into spectacular combos. The game comes with simple visuals inspired by the TV original in of the style - the creators made use of cel-shading technique in the production process.
