Game mechanics

Beyond Sunset refers to classic FPS games from the mid-1990s. We observe the events from a first-person perspective, and the gameplay focuses on dynamic combat with hordes of enemies. The player has a rich arsenal at his disposal, and the dynamism of battles is increased by a large repertoire of character maneuvers, including sliding, rapid jumps to the enemies, dodging and various acrobatics.

RPG elements add variety to the game. The game world is not filled only with enemies. We also meet many NPCs with whom we can talk or receive optional side quests. In addition, an important role in the gameplay is played by the development system, which allows us to improve our character's abilities.

Beyond Sunset offers only single player mode.

Technical aspects

Game was made in retro style. Beyond Sunset is modeled on FPSs from the mid-1990s. The locations are mostly 3D, but the characters, some objects and the player's weapons were made as 2D sprites. At the same time, the level of map complexity, the scale of locations and battles, and visual effects far exceed what was offered by the games that inspired the authors.

An additional attraction is the interesting soundtrack, which was composed by Karl Vincent, an artist specializing in electronic music.
