A brief history of the Cities series
About the fact that the studio Colossal Order decided to challenge the brand Cities: Skylines, the first part of the series in question, made its debut in March 2015, accompanied by high ratings from industry media and iration from gamers.. Although the title was initially available only on personal computers, over the following years it also came to consoles - PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
The game enjoyed tremendous popularity (the first million buyers found in a little over a month after its release), so forging iron while it was hot, the authors quickly set to work on its development. The result of this endeavor was a flurry of updates and add-ons and major expansions introducing new content. The latest DLC, namely. Hotels & Retreats, debuted on May 23, 2023.
Given the success achieved by this work, the creation of the Cities: Skylines II was only a matter of time. The sequel to the bestseller from Collosal Order was announced in March 2023, and went on sale in October. The title debuted on PC; console versions were delayed shortly before its release.
The second production was not free of flaws and suffered from numerous technical problems, which significantly affected its reception, which was clearly inferior to that of its predecessor. Nevertheless, the authors took the criticism and comments of fans to heart, quickly getting to work on patches and gradually cracking down on further pains of the item.
In the meantime, Fast Travel Games studio has prepared a spin-off of the series, titled Cities: VR, which was released in 2022 for personal computers, among others, while in February 2023 it appeared on PlayStation 5. As the name suggested, it was an item prepared from scratch with virtual reality sets in mind.
Gameplay in the Cities series games
Gameplay in the games of the series Cities does not differ too much from what we are accustomed to by other city builders set in modern times, led by the cycle of SimCity. During the game we build a prosperous city from scratch, and all issues related to its functioning rest on our shoulders. Thus, we are in charge of designating residential, commercial and industrial zones, creating infrastructure, laying out roads or, finally, fulfilling the subsequent whims of citizens and taking care of their needs. Of course, for all this we need money, the source of which for us is, among other things, taxes and trade.
New content for production under the banner of Cities are introduced by regularly released add-ons. Players themselves also contribute their "three cents", creating a variety of mods for these positions.

Economic aspect is the crucial element to the game – while playing, you have to keep an eye on the city budget, provided by your citizens' taxes, and establish trade s with neighboring cities. You also develop means of public transportation to help your citizens get around the city faster. The game features high quality 3D graphics and full mod .
