One of the most significant gaming events in April turned out to be the unexpected release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Unfortunately, unlike most Bethesda games, this one will not receive official mod . This makes things more difficult for modders, but it doesn't make modding impossible—as evidenced by the fact that Unofficial Oblivion Remastered Patch (UORP).

Veterans of Bethesda games will immediately recognize what this project is. It's the latest addition to a family of mods that serve as unofficial updates, aiming to fix bugs and oversights that developers missed. The project was developed by a team led by a modder known as Arthmoor. Previously, he and other fans created similar projects for the original Fallout 4, and Starfield.

Unofficial Oblivion Remastered Patch is still in its early stages, with the latest version being only 1.0.4. Despite that, the project already includes hundreds of fixes for scripts, quests, NPCs, items, dialogues, and other issues.

The scale of changes introduced by modders in such a short time shouldn't be surprising. While the game runs on Unreal Engine 5, in reality, this technology primarily improves the visuals. The foundation of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered remains the original engine, working in the background, out of sight of the player.

Because of this, Arthmoor and his colleagues were able to convert most fixes from their original project to the remaster—which, frankly, reflects poorly on Bethesda, as they were aware of these issues yet chose not to fix them in the remastered version.

It's worth noting that Arthmoor's projects are a bit controversial. He sometimes alters aspects that some fans believe didn't need fixing. However, for the majority of players simply looking for a more polished experience, his mods are highly recommended.
