How to get Frostcrag Spire in Oblivion Remastered

Getting this house is fairly easy. Go to Bruma (north from the Imperial City), and from there go east. The Frostcrag Spire is at the top of Jerall Mountains, near Gnoll Mountain fast travel point. When you get there, you will be welcomed by closed door.

You can either use your lockpicking skills, as the lock is only of average difficulty, or get the key. If you want to use the latter option, you need to go a little bit south from the tower. There is a small camp in that spot. The key is hidden in a chest.
After entering the building, read the book lying on the big hand near the entrance. Now, you are the owner of the Frostcrag Spire. The door behind the hand should open, and you will be free to explore your new house. However, it is only the beginning.
What Frostcrag Spire in Oblivion Remastered has to offer
If you are a mage, the Frostcrag Spire is a must have. Of course, you must upgrade it first. How to do that? Follow the quest in your Journal and buy all of the improvements which are offered by Aurelinwae. Don’t forget about Magetallow Candles Box, as they are necessary to power altars. Upgrades do not cost a lot but offer great possibilities.
Vault
It is an area where you can stash your items. There are many containers here. Moreover, you can find a secret area behind the rocks. There are 2 graves hidden there. After interacting with them, you will be able to get a beverage with a strange effects (we will not spoil what) and buffs.
Living area

Beautiful and useful garden.Source: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, developer: Bethesda, Virtuos.
There are a few things worth mentioning in this place:
- Bedroom – of course, you can sleep here. More than the bed, however, attention should be paid to the alchemy table. If you are near it, it will temporally boost your Alchemy skill by 15. Moreover, you should look at the top of the bookcase next to the Main Level portal. There is an interesting necklace in a jewelry box.
- Garden – yes, living area is equipped with a garden. There are many plants in it. The best part is that they regrow every 3 days or so. However you must be away from the Frostcrag Spire for it to happen. So sleeping in a bed in the Bedroom will not spawn them.
- Teleports – while it may not seem like a great boost, as there is fast travel, you can instantly teleport to any mage guild you want. It can be useful if you craft a spell or an item and want to buy something from one of the guild vendors.
Altars
The main prize for getting the Frostcrag Spire is altars. There are 3:
- Atronach Altar – it is the unique altar, you will not find it anywhere else. If you offer 3 Salts of the same kind (Void, Frost or Fire), you will summon an Atronach. It’s a permanent follower, which can help you during your journey (of course, until destroyed)
- Altar of Enchanting – this altar can be also found at Arcane University. However, access to this location is restricted behind quests for heads of local mage guilds. It is much easier and faster to unlock it in the Frostcrag Spire. As the name suggest, you can craft magical items thanks to it.
- Altar of Spellmaking – as in the case of Enchanting one, you can find it at Arcane University, but you have the Frostcrag Spire, which is more convenient. This “workbench” allows you to create your own spells.
As you can see, with so many powerful bonuses, the Frostcrag Spire is a useful house for all players. However, mages will appreciate it the most. To be honest, it is a must-have in their case. If you have found this news helpful, we recommend visiting our guide.
