Remaster of iconic 1990s shooter received huge update. It made Turok better than ever before
The Turok remaster received a major update more than six years after the release of version 2.0, and it's coming to new platforms.

The refreshed Turok received an unexpected update and hit new platforms.
Nightdive Studios is not only working on the long-awaited remaster of System Shock 2. The American team specializing in refreshing classic video games unexpectedly returned to their older title: Turok.
The game hit the market in 2015, and 3 years later it received version 2.0, which seemed to be the culmination of the development of this project. So imagine the surprise of the players when Nightdive Studios unexpectedly released a new update that ported Turok to the fourth generation of the Kex engine and introduced a host of improvements.
The full list of changes (available on Steam and Reddit) isn't short and includes both general improvements and those intended for specific platforms. First and foremost, Turok is now natively available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the game s screens with a higher refresh rate.
Besides, the developers managed to "find and secure" brachiosaurs from the beta version of the anniversary patches for the Half-Life series, but it's still much more than players could have expected over 6 years after the game's development ended.
However, there is also a fly in the ointment: the vast amount of changes made the old save files incompatible with the current version of the Turok remaster. In theory, this can be byed by using Steam's "Beta" option and switching back to the "Legacy" version on the Kex3 Engine. However, in such a case, the cloud save will be unavailable.
Turok 2 will also receive a big update and will be released natively on ninth-generation consoles.
