AC Shadows: Are there any romances?
During their adventures in feudal Japan, Naoe and Yasuke will meet many different characters on their way. This page of the guide will tell you which of them you can romance.
In Assassin's Creed Shadows, you will have the opportunity to establish closer relationships with some NPCs. Both Naoe and Yasuke may seek love. On this guide page you will learn which characters you can romance, how to initiate a closer relationship with them, and at what point each storyline appears.
The following page contains story spoilers related to the characters. Romances are not available in canon mode.

How to recognize romance options?
Most of your potential love interests are your allies. These are the characters you meet as part of completing the League tasks. You can then invite them to live in the hideout (you can find more about the hideout on a separate page of the guide).
During the story cutscenes, from time to time you will come across dialogue options marked with a heart. If you choose them, you will start to bond even more, which may lead to a full-fledged romance.
It's worth noting that certain romance options are strictly tied to only one of the protagonists. This means that the chosen character can only have a romance with Naoe, and another one only with Yasuke.
Gennojo (Naoe)
Gennojo is one of the first romantic options for Naoe. You will meet him during the Missing Missive quest, where you will face a thief in a duel. This is part of The Fool's thread. By completing the side missions associated with him, you will quickly get the opportunity to choose romantic dialogue options.
As time es, Naoe will be able to help Gennojo cope with his tragic past, which will additionally bring these two closer together. It's worth mentioning here that during his storyline, Gennojo will try to sacrifice himself by blowing up an important enemy building. If you don't stop him or calm him down, he will die. In the canon mode, Gennojo dies.
Katsuhime (Naoe)
Another romantic storyline exclusive to Naoe begins during the Against the Koga-Ryu quest. If you follow the sniper storyline after killing Naginata, romantic dialogue options will start to appear over time. However, be careful, because in one of the side quests Katsuhime can die, so be careful when completing her story quests.
Koshiro (Naoe)
Koshiro is a ronin whom you will meet during The Ox assassination storyline, one of the of Shinbakufu. Killing the target will allow you to start romance the former samurai which is exclusive to Naoe.
Mayu (Naoe)
Romancing Maya requires dedicating a significant amount of time and exploring almost the entire game world. You will meet the woman during the side task Mayu's Offerings, in the south of the Asuka Rock Basin in the Yamato region. Her task and romance require you to find all 69 Jizo statues scattered throughout the game world.
Lady Oichi (Yasuke)
The exclusive romance for Yasuke begins during the task An Education, which is part of Yasuke's personal storyline. In later quests, she will come up several times.
In the Unmasking the Wheel quest, you have to spare her life if you want to establish a relationship with her in the future. In the canon mode, Yasuke and Naoe automatically save Lady Oichi.
Hori Hidemasa (Yasuke)
Yasuke can romance the samurai Hidemasa after eliminating one of the optional target groups - Traitors. Yasuke gets this mission from Hidemasa, and after its completion, you can start romancing him.
Ibuki (Yasuke)
Ronin Ibuki is another potential romance option for Yasuke. The character is associated with the side quest Ambush Interrupted, which is located in Kashiwara village, in the south of Hijiyama in the Iga region (you have to play as Yasuke). By being polite, you can gain a new recruit. During his personal quest, Ibuki can enter into a relationship with Yasuke.
Rin (Yasuke)
Rin is a romance option that you will encounter very late in the game, in the endgame. You will unlock her personal quest after hunting the Winter Raiders - optional targets that you will encounter for the first time in the Gobo village on the southern shore of the Kii region. The enemies are around level 50, so you can only deal with them 10 levels after finishing the main storyline. Eliminating them will unlock Rin's tasks, during which you can enter into a relationship with her.
