AC Shadows: How to heal?

During their journey through Japan in Assassin's Creed Shadows, Naoe and Yasuke will often get into fights and will probably sustain some injuries. On this guide page, we answer whether the game has regenerating health and how to heal. We also provide information on how to improve health recovery and how to obtain rations.

How to heal?

1. The basic method of healing is rations. These are single-use medical items that immediately restore a part of your health bar. You can also use them during fights.
2. The current number of rations is displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen (example in the picture). You use them by pressing up on the d-pad. Don't wait until you have only a sliver of health left, especially while playing as Naoe. The heroine can easily lose a large portion of her health bar even from just a single attack from an opponent.

How to replenish ration supplies?

1. The best way to replenish your rations supply is to visit any kakurega - these are small hideouts that you can unlock in the villages and towns you visit. They cost 800 pieces of gold, but this is very profitable, because you will also gain, among other things, an additional fast travel point.
2. Approach the place where you can resupply. In addition to restoring the rations, you will also replenish the tools (e.g. throwable items).

Other ways of obtaining rations are:

1. Shopping in stores - they are not expensive, and you can sometimes meet traders in uninhabited areas.
2. Exploration - they can be found in various types of containers. It's worth thoroughly searching the area, especially if you can't easily leave a certain location (e.g. you are currently on a mission).

Is there health regeneration?

The game has an automatic health regeneration mechanic, but it's limited. Lost health points can start to regenerate:

1. after defeating all opponents;
2. after leaving the hostile location and losing the pursuit.

It won't work if your character is being attacked or if it is actively being pursued.

You can also improve health regeneration thanks to selected equipment elements. The acquired equipment can grant you bonuses to health regeneration. In the example from the picture, the Apprentice Assassin Hood can restore 1% of health at hit.
