Assassins Creed Shadows: How to complete The Twisted Tree quest?

During The Twisted Tree quest, your task will be to get rid of all of the hated Takahashi clan from Kyoto. On this guide page, we will give you tips on how to defeat each member of the family, as well as suggest which tasks can be solved in without killing anybody.

How to start The Twisted Tree mission?

The mission The Twisted Tree is related to The Fool's thread. They are necessary steps during the main storyline.

Start the Inside Help mission and talk to the monk Ujimasa. You will find him in the Kiyomizudera temple, east of Kyoto. After the conversation, The Twisted Tree mission will appear on the quests list. To continue the Fool's thread, you must complete the entire targets tree consisting of the Takahashi family.

The first task on the list will be to gather information about the family's guardian. Go and talk to the merchant. He is staying in the central part of Kyoto, west of Nijo Palace.

After the conversation, you can start hunting of the evil clan.

Takahashi Jiro

Before you go to fight Jiro, find the drunk guardian and take the letter from him. You will find him lying next to the barrels in the southern part of the city.

The list will show you the location of Takahashi Jiro, who is on the southern edge of the city, near the hideout you can buy. Go to that place.

1. The samurai is harassing defenseless civilians. Approach him and perform a surprise attack to deplete some of his health bar.
2. But first, get rid of the archer.
3. The member of the Takahashi clan uses a fairly standard set of moves for an opponent with a katana. Be especially careful of unblockable kicks and longer series of attacks.

After defeating Jiro, you will cross the first member of the tainted lineage off the list.

Takahashi Shiro

To defeat the powerful warrior called Oni, first go to the northern part of the city and eavesdrop on the conversation between guards. You will get information about the place where the quarrel took place.

Proceed to the location where you will find a destroyed cart and papers lying on the ground. Read them to learn that Shiro is currently in the southwestern part of Nijo Palace.

1. Takahashi Shiro is a heavily armed warrior, so we recommend to fight him as Yasuke.
2. Watch out for his wide swings. Try to perform a perfect dodge to get a chance for a counterattack.
3. Try to get rid of the boss's minions as early as possible.

Takahashi Saburo and Takahashi Taro

You will find both men in the eastern part of Kyoto, near the Asukai Clan's estate.

1. There are a lot of minor enemies lurking around. Try to defeat them first.
2. Saburo can be quite easily provoked into chasing you. Use this to distract him from the rest of the group and defeat him one-on-one.
3. Taro can summon minor opponents and order his soldiers to shoot exploding arrows. When you notice that he raises his hand, immediately attack to interrupt the call for reinforcements.

Takahashi Inoshichi

The patriarch of the family resides in his estate in western Kyoto. This area is heavily guarded, so we recommend you to sneak there as Naoe.

1. Try to quietly take out as many enemies as possible before approaching Inoshichi himself.
2. The patriarch uses a katana and is quite fast. Watch out for his combinations.
3. Try to move the fight outside the building. Then you will not be limited by the small room.

Takahashi Inoshichi is a target worth leaving for last. If you kill the father early, his four children will immediately appear at the family home and attack you all at once. Family who will seek revenge are:

1. Jiro;
2. Shiro;
3. Saburo;
4. Taro.

Fighting with everyone at once is not the easiest, so we generally advise you to avoid it. However, if you feel up to it, this might be a good opportunity to get rid of most of the clan in one fell swoop.

Takahashi Ichi-Hime and Takahashi Goro

Ichi-Hime and Goro are the last of the clan. The plot strongly suggests, however, that the last two are not as vile as the rest of the Takahashi clan. If you want to avoid bloodshed, you can do it in a fairly easy way.

If you defeat Inoshichi before going to Ichi-Hime and Goro, the siblings will automatically be spared. The brother and sister will abandon the brutal nature of their family and peacefully leave Kyoto. You can do the same if you talk to Ichi-Hime and Goro first, and then choose the Spare option. The sister is in a temple east of Kyoto, while the brother is in the northeastern part of the city.

Of course, you can also treat siblings just like the rest of the family and simply fight them.

After defeating all opponents from the Takahashi tree, The Twisted Tree mission will end.
