Expedition 33: How to beat the Chromatic Abbest boss?

Where is Chromatic Abbest?

Chromatic Abbest is located in the Abbest Cave, a small, optional area just north of the Spring Meadows. Although you may get there very early, this opponent will probably be too strong for you until you reach the second act. The boss is optional and defeating him is not required to make progress.

Chromatic Abbest's attacks

1. Ground combo - Abbest approaches you and does two attacks. First, he slowly leans back and strikes when he is completely level. Then he repeats the same move much faster.
2. Air combo - Abbest jumps into the air and does three attacks. The first blow comes a moment after he does a full pirouette, the second a moment later, the third with a slight delay. Parry when the green blade appears.
3. Spell - three crystals shoot out from the ground. The first two crystals hit nothing, only the third one will hit you. Listen to the sound of the crystals - they appear in a steady rhythm, so parry the third crystal to the rhythm. The boss's simplest attack to parry.

How to defeat Chromatic Abbest?

The boss is vulnerable to darkness and light, and resistant to physical damage. Sciel and Verso will therefore perform great in this fight. The fight is very simple mechanically, and the biggest threat is the massive damage dealt by the boss - even one hit is usually enough to kill you. Parry spells, and if you're not confident in your parrying skills, dodge melee attacks.

Rewards for defeating Chromatic Abbest

For defeating the Chromatic Abbest you will receive:

1. 59,063 XP;
2. 4,073 Chroma;
3. Picto - First Offensive - The first attack dealt by the hero, as well as the first damage received by them, are increased by 50%.
4. Resplendent Chroma Catalyst x2;
5. Colour of Lumina x5.
