Expedition 33: How to defeat Glaise?

Where is Glaise?

Glaise can be found at the end of the optional Yellow Harvest region. You can get there after completing Esquie's Lair, and thus unlocking the ability to ride on Esquie. Thanks to this, you will be able to destroy the stones blocking the way to the optional region. The encounter will start right after you reach the Yellow Spire Wrecks flag. Similar to the entire location, the boss is optional and completing the fight is not required to progress in the game.

Glaise's attacks

1. Strike - area attack. Glaise jumps towards you and raises their hands, then hits the entire team. You have to parry mainly intuitively, but watch the boss carefully - Glaise's left knee twitches just before the strike.
2. Thorns - Glaise starts to punch the ground, creating thorns that move underground and attack your heroes. Pay attention to the green light underground, which shows where the thorn is, and parry when the light is under one of the characters.
3. Earthquake - Glaise uses this attack after a few turns and the game will warn you that it's being charged. The boss hits the ground with their fists three times, and the resulting shock hits the entire team. Dodge intuitively - when the boss raises their hands before striking, there is a slight delay.

How to defeat Glaise?

The Glaise boss fight doesn't involve any complicated mechanics - the boss only uses the two aforementioned attacks throughout the entire fight. The boss is susceptible to fire and absorbs earth. It starts the fight with three armor points that you have to destroy. Don't get hit; although the boss's attacks are fairly easy to parry, they deal massive damage to the entire team. The key to victory will be to memorize the attacks sequences - nothing else will help you. Thanks to the boss's vulnerability to fire, incendiary skills will come in very handy here.

For defeating Glaise you will receive:

1. 24,190 XP,
2. 3,550 Chroma,
3. Plenium - weapon for Maelle,
4. Picto - Energising Attack I - 1 AP for basic attacks,
5. Polished Chroma Catalyst x3.
