Expedition 33: How to destroy painted cages?
Painted cages are the kind of collectibles you'll come across in Expedition 33. From this page you'll learn where to look for them, what might be inside, and how to open them.
Last update:
During your dangerous journey across the continent ruined by the Painter, you will occasionally come across mysterious, black growths emanating white light. These are so-called painted cages, that contain interesting items. On this guide page, we will present to you all the information about them.
Where to look for painted cages?
Painted cages are present in almost all Expedition 33 locations. You will most often find them in side corridors or rooms. For this reason, it is worth spending some time to get to know the area well and discover all the nooks and crannies of a given biome.
How to open painted cages?
To unlock a cage, you need to find three locks scattered around the area. They resemble black growths, similar to the ones on the chest, but much smaller. They are often located quite high, so look around carefully. When you are in dark rooms, look for the slight glow coming from the locks.
Once you find the lock, aim at it with a ranged weapon (left trigger on the controller), and then destroy it with an accurate shot. After destroying all the locks, the cage will fall apart, and you will be able to pick up the item hiding inside.
You will most often find rare consumables such as reviving shards or various elixirs.
