Expedition 33: How to beat Dualliste?

Where is Dualliste?

Dualliste can be found at the end of the Forgotten Battlefield. The encounter will start right after reaching the Ancient Bridge flag. The boss is mandatory and fighting him is required to make progress in the game.

Dualliste's attacks (first phase)

1. Area attack - Dualliste stays in one spot, but spins his sword in front of him, and plunges it into the ground, causing an area explosion. Parry just a moment after he holds the sword vertically in front of you.
2. Quick attack - Dualliste approaches a team member and performs a combination of three strikes. Listen to the boss and parry when you hear the sound of a sword cutting through the air.
3. Combo - Dualliste approaches a team member and performs a combination of five strikes. Listen to the boss and parry when you hear the sound of a sword cutting through the air.
4. Swing combo - Dualliste approaches a team member and performs a combination of four strikes. Listen to the boss and parry when you hear the sound of a sword cutting through the air. You will have to jump over the second strike.

Dualliste's attacks (second phase)

1. Area attack - Dualliste stays in one spot, but spins his sword in front of him, and plunges it into the ground, causing two area explosions. Parry just a moment after the boss holds the sword vertically in front of you. Then, parry again when you hear the characteristic metallic sound.
2. Quick attack - Dualliste approaches a team member and performs a combination of six strikes. Listen to the boss and parry when you hear the sound of a sword cutting through the air. You will have to jump over the second and third strikes.
3. Combo - Dualliste approaches a team member and performs a combination of nine strikes. Listen to the boss and parry when you hear the sound of a sword cutting through the air. The last attack is a gradient attack - be ready for a gradient counter when the boss jumps into the air.
4. Inverted - Dualliste casts this effect when deprived of half of his health. It will inflict the Inverted status on your entire team, making it impossible for you to heal.

How to defeat Dualliste?

Dualliste is a very simple boss in of mechanics and relies on dealing long combos. He is weak to Light and resistant to Dark. This encounter features practically no unique mechanics - it's just a test of your parrying skills. The boss moves around very quickly, so for most attacks it's better to rely on hearing - listen for the sound of the sword cutting through the air.

In the second stage of the fight, the boss will pull out a second sword, but the combat strategy will remain the same - his combos will just become significantly longer. Make sure that your team is in the best possible condition when the boss has about half of his health left - he will then apply the Inverted effect to your entire team, which will take away your ability to heal. Finish the fight as quickly as possible - you can save your action points, the most powerful skills, and breaks for this moment.

For defeating Dualliste you will receive:

1. 27,560 XP,
2. 3,950 Chroma,
3. Dualiso - a weapon for Verso,
4. Picto - Combo Attack I - a regular attack turns into a combo of two attacks,
