Expedition 33: Ultimate Sakapatate - Karatom's quest

During your visit to the Gestrals Village in the first act of the game, you can accept a side quest from Karatom. In this quest, you will duel with an enhanced version of the Ultimate Sakapatate, which you had the opportunity to fight during the main storyline. Where is the Ultimate Sakapatate from Karatom's quest?

You will fight the enhanced version of the Ultimate Sakapatate during a side quest, which you will receive from Karatom in the Gestrals Village. You will reach it at the end of the first act of the game. Before you participate in the fight, you will have to obtain special ingredients needed to construct Sakapatate. Ultimate Sakapatate's attacks from Karatom's quest

1. Regular attack - Sakapatate swings a big mushroom twice. The swings are easy to spot and quite easy to parry. Then he makes a wide slash, which you have to jump over. Look out for the jump icons and counterattack a moment later.
2. Ground strike - the boss lifts the mushroom, swings and performs a powerful strike from above. Try to avoid the attack, because getting hit will mark Gustave.
3. Cannons - three shots from cannons mounted on the shield. Every hit will set you on fire. Listen for the whistling sound - the shot follows right after it. Dodge/counter right after the whistle.
4. Shield attack - Sakapatate performs a shield bash. However, this attack is quite easy to spot and counter.
5. Electric projectiles - Similar to cannons, here the boss also does a salvo of three projectiles. They fly in a slight arc and hit with a slight delay. Before each shot, you will hear the Sakapatate's pilot shouting "Fire!" and a whistling sound.

How to defeat the Ultimate Sakapatate from Karatom's quest?

Fighting this version of the Ultimate Sakapatate is somewhat reminiscent of the similar boss fight encountered in the main story. The difficulty here lies in the fact that you have to fight with just Gustav, and the strengthened boss is stronger and often attacks several times per turn. However, a big convenience is the fact that almost all of his attacks are highly predictable and have very distinct animations. After a few attempts, you should easily get the rhythm of the fight and easily launch counterattacks.

Since you are fighting with only Gustave in your party, use all available skill points for this hero. Also equip yourself with your best pictos, luminas, and weapons. While preparing a set of attacks, don't forget about some healing ability. You will need it during this long confrontation.

Sakapatate is susceptible to fire and resistant to electricity. During the fight, try to use the Shatter ability, which will make it easier for you to break the enemy. When Sakapatate enters the breaking state, attack the boss's weak point on the arm with single shots. A few accurate shots should deprive the enemy of his shield and significantly facilitate the fight. However, that even if the boss has the broken status, he often almost immediately recovers from it. So it's possible that you may have to repeat the whole process several times.

As soon as it is possible, attack with a fully charged Overcharge. Also, don't forget to heal from time to time, especially if Sakapatate sets you on fire. Use the predictability of the boss's moves to perform perfect parries and counterattacks.
