Gestral Village is one of the areas available in the first act of Clair Obscur Expedition 33. This is a small location where you will participate in a tournament in the Gestral arena. Only one of your party can participate in this tournament. Each member will also receive a unique reward for the victory. What is the tournament about?
The Gestral tournament is a mandatory plot event in the Gestral Village - by completing it, you will gain a new party member and unlock access to the next main location, Esquie's nest. The tournament consists of four one-on-one duels, in which only one party member can participate. You can switch characters between rounds - the only thing that matters is who you put up for the last, fourth round, because that character will receive a reward for this fight.
What are the prizes for winning the Gestral tournament?
By winning the fourth round of the tournament, i.e. defeating Sciel, the party member chosen by you receives a weapon. Gustave gets Sakaram, Lune gets Trebuchim, and Maelle will acquire Medalum.
Participate in the tournament as Maelle. Rewards for Gustave and Lune are very common and drop from regular enemies in the Ancient Sanctuary. The reward for Maelle is unique and this is one of the few opportunities to obtain it. Medalum is one of the best weapons for Maelle, and for most of the game it is absolutely unparalleled. It allows you to start each battle in a Virtuose Stance, which is the best of Maelle's stances. After upgrading it in the later stage of the game, it will also receive two additional features - when you are in a Virtuose Stance, the burn applied by you is doubled and deals double damage.
How to get the Medalum if you missed it?
If you finished the tournament as Gustave or Lune, you will have to wait a very long time for a second chance to obtain Medalum. The only other way to obtain the Medalum is to defeat Golgra, an optional boss in the Gestral Village. Although you can participate in this fight right away in the first act, you stand no chance - Golgra has the statistics of postgame bosses, designed for a party that has completed the main storyline. The lowest recommended level for this fight is 50.
