Oblivion Remastered: Are there loading screens in the remaster?
Do loading screens appear in Oblivion Remastered when entering buildings and dungeons? In our guide, we clarify the question of whether the remake got rid of the problem of loading screens and completely separate locations.
Last update:
Are locations still separated by loading screens in TES IV Oblivion Remastered? On this page of the guide you will find out whether the remaster allows you to freely explore one large world, or whether entering buildings or dungeons means that the game must load a separate location.
- Does entering a building mean a loading screen?
- Does the remaster divide large locations into several smaller ones?
Does entering a building mean a loading screen?
- In the original version of Oblivion, entering a building or unique location on the map meant that a loading screen had to appear to load a separate location. This could disrupt the fun from traveling around the large world and be irritating when exploring more complex locations.
- Unfortunately, despite the switch to Unreal Engine 5, Oblivion Remastered did not fix the problem known from the original version. This means that in addition to the main world map, you visit a lot of locations that are preceded by a loading screen. Loading a new location may occur after opening a door, gate, or other age. The game also always informs you about the place to which a given age leads. So you can find out in advance that loading will occur.
- Some consolation may be that in the remaster, loading new locations is faster, although a lot also depends on your hardware and the speed of your SSD drive.
Does the remaster divide large locations into several smaller ones?
- Oblivion Remastered also does not feature any changes done to the larger locations. Cities in the game are still made up of districts separated with loading screens. Getting from point A to point B can therefore mean multiple loadings, although this problem can be reduced by using fast travel.
- The game's larger dungeons may still consist of a few separate areas. It may therefore happen, for example, that in order to fully explore a given dungeon, you will have to search a total of 3-4 separate locations.
