Your own in-game house seems like the perfect place to store items in TES IV Oblivion Remastered, but the downside is that you have to purchase it first. In the guide, we have shown alternative places where you can store items for free and which will be available at the beginning of your playthrough.

Why store items?

  1. There are several potential reasons why you should store items. First of all, you can save heavier items, such as armor or weapons, for later. This will allow you to keep them in good condition and use them when you need them, or sell them at a better price once your bargaining skills improve.
  2. It's also recommended to store excess potions and crafting materials. Individual items do not weigh much, but several dozen or several hundred of them can take up a large portion of your character's carrying capacity.

Hollowed-Out Tree Stump - Imperial City, Market District

  1. The main advantage of Hollowed-Out Tree Stump is that you can easily reach it right after the prologue, i.e. after getting out of the prison and the starting sewers. The Market District is a major district of the Imperial City, and you can get there even quicker by using fast travel (the location is immediately visible on the world map).
  2. Reach the small courtyard with a well behind the Rindir's Staffs shop in the city's Market District. Here you will find the tree stump shown in the screenshot. It is empty by default, so you can easily put items from your inventory in it.

Jauffre's Chest - Weynon Priory

Related map marker: Jaufree's Chest - Weynon Priory @ Cyrodiil

  1. You will visit Weynon Priory at the very beginning of the main storyline - it is part of the Deliver the Amulet main quest. Weynon Priory is located just a bit west of the Imperial City.
  1. Once you get there, you'll need to enter Weynon House. In the mentioned main quest, the hero can ask Jauffre for (see the screenshot above). This will unlock access to Jauffre's Chest.
  1. In the chest, you will find free items given to you by Jauffre. You can take them out either to use or sell them. You can also put your own items in the chest.
  2. The downside is that Weynon Priory may be destroyed later in the game. If you want to keep using the chest, you must avoid Martin. It is also recommended to have a back-up save, so that if you make a mistake, you can load an older save and empty Jauffre's Chest.

Sacks in the game world

  1. Sacks are a pretty universal way to store your loot; an example is shown in the screenshot.
  2. It's convenient, but make sure to the location of the particular sack, preferably by taking one or more screenshots. Sacks are found practically everywhere and it is way too easy to mix them up.

Don't try this with other common containers. Sacks are the only spot where your loot will not be lost.
